This past weekend was filled with a lot of challenges, both physical and mental. I entered my 1st Super Spartan Race in California, and let me tell you it was a rough one. Running 8 miles on an even surface in great weather can be difficult for a lot of people. Running 8 miles over uneven terrain, up mountains at about 45 degree incline with water, mud, and several obstacles was my most difficult fitness challenge to date.
This has definitely opened my eyes to new challenges and obvious weaknesses in my game plan that I need to focus on and work at. On March 2nd , I will be celebrating my 43rd birthday and I can't tell you how great it is to feel the way I do because of how physically fit I have become. I don't find myself getting older but most definitely stronger. Along with age, I have incorporated much wisdom to my training because I exercise alot smarter now than I did 10 years ago. I have learned to listen to my body. I rest when I need to rest and I eat healthier and smarter. By applying simple principles to your workouts, you can sustain longer , more difficult, and exhausting workouts , while remaining injury free.
I feel that consistency and moderation have been my most greatest assets when it comes to my training. I have learned many new things over the past 2 years and everyday opens up another page in my life and another great opportunity to learn something new and possibly pass it on to others who may benefit from my knowledge.
I sit here now, pondering many, many thoughts about what I want to accomplish next. The attitude and the mental focus that I have right now, this very minute, I feel that there is nothing that I can't do if I put my mind to it. I will say this , a triathlon is definitely on my future plan of events. I plan on stepping out of my comfort zone and tackling new things that are gonna test every aspect of my physical and mental capability. That's my juice! That's my excitement! Discovering the the unknown and putting myself to the test.
Out of all the things that I would do to get myself ready for any more Spartan Races would have to be running. I need to get on that road and just do it. 2 times a week is the plan for me. That's where the discipline comes in. Anybody considering doing a Super Spartan race, I highly recommend running as part of your training methods.
The Spartan Race was just the beginning of the road for me when it comes to my physical fitness journey. I have a GOAL, and that goal is to be the most well rounded athlete I can be , at all times! If somebody asked and said, "Hey Rich, do you wanna do Spartan race next week?" I want to be able to do that race at any time I choose. I want to and I will be ready at all times! Now, "What is your Goal?"
Train hard my friends! Train consistently, and train with Passion!

Training for the Future
Hello all my friends, I've got one week left before my the BIG Spartan on February 26th and I have been training very hard for this event. 2 years ago , when I began my Beachbody Fitness journey, I would have never thought I would be competing in an 8 mile race with several obstacles over uneven terrain , with water and mud. This is definitely gonna be one of my most difficult fitness challenges thus far.
Looking back at the onset of all this , I didn't realize I was training for the future. Not only my future, but the future of my daughters, my fiancee, my friends, and everybody I have had a chance to talk to and mentor. Being a Beach body Coach has given a wide range of opportunity to train for the future. I love being able to assist others with questions about fitness, nutrition, and coaching. When people look to me for advice, it humbles me and lets me know I am doing my work. There are many days on Facebook, that I will get messages, posts, friend requests, and alot of positive feedback from friends and sometimes from people I don't even know. It is very nice to hear that I am an inspiration to some, but I don't think of myself that way. I 'm a man that is committed to my fitness and personal growth , and I pray and hope that I can motivate and inspire others along the way. I have gained so much knowledge and wisdom over these years and with each passing day I continue to grow and thirst for more to learn.
The growth in my maturity has been more than a blessing. There is not a day that goes by that I don't give thanks. I am very pleased with my physical changes that I have achieved. There are things I can do now at 42 that I probably could not have done when I was 32. Come February 26th, I 'm gonna put all this together and use all my fitness abilities that I have , and all that I have achieved. I didn't realize that in 2009, when I first opened my P90X box, that it would lead me to this, "Training for my future" With every exercise, every rep, everything we eat, the decisions we make, our actions we take, we are all ultimately , training for future. We, influence ALOT of people in our lives, everyday! So, implore you all , "Train hard ,and train smart for your future'"

Enriched
Enriched- To make fuller, more meaningful, or more rewarding! That is the word that I was left with after going to Church this past Sunday. The word itself has significant meaning to me outside of its actual definition.
I take pleasure in enriching my life with various amounts of wisdom and knowledge. I feel everyday can be a blessing to all, if you allow it.
When I was younger, I would just surround my self with anything and everything for my entertainment. There was no meaning behind it. I was just doing, just to do! The rewards were short lived and I would find myself asking the same question, "Why did I do that?" No rhyme or reason, just because. It made sense to me at the time because I had no direction, no purpose, just self fulfillment.
Now I am into my 4th decade of life, I make the best of my time by surrounding myself with useful information that would make me a better man and person. Not only would this be beneficial for me, but also for others so that I may be able to pass this on. Everyday for me is a chance to gain something for personal growth. Feeding myself with a plethora of knowledge when possible is a priority in my life. Over the past 2 years, my life has been a continuous blessing. I look forward to openining my eyes everyday and be humbled at the thought of learning at such a great capacity. I choose to enrich myself with ways to keep physically fit, mentally focused, and spiritually strong! I just pray that I am able to enrich others with things that I do and say. I hope these word are useful to you and others. Rich Sanchez

Fitness/Nutrition/Life- Finding the Balance
"Your relationship between you and Fitness should not be taken for granted! It is work that is done daily, But NOT a chore! It is a great UNION that whatever you put into it, you will get out of it. Treat it well, and the rewards are endless!"
When I first entered the world of Beachbody, I knew I was stepping into a realm limitless possibilities. P90X was the first thing on my agenda. Right from the get go, I noticed significant changes. The workouts were tough and immeditely, my first thought was, "What did I did I get myself into?" One thing I did know is that I was on the road to better fitness and nutrition.
Way before P90X, when I was in my 20's, I was an athlete. There wasn't a work out I couldn't do. I would run, lift weights, and just train hard and eat whatever I wanted to. I was all about weight training and no cardio. I was strong in many areas but definitely weak in others. My philosophy was, so as long as I lifted weights like an athlete, I could eat just about whatever I wanted. The only cardio I did was my occasional beer run :0)Eating clean was something that I had no concept of. I felt at my age, I had the right combination. Little did I know!
It wasn't until I hit the ripe age of 41 that I realized that my health, and athletic abilities just weren't what they used to be. I needed an answer to my fitness and nutrition miseries. I wanted that feeling of athleticism again and I needed to be healthy. So the answer I found was to find a balance between my Fitness and Nutrition. P90X provided a vast array of nutrition with a workout program that was the best I have ever expeienced. The information was informative but somewhat overwhelming. I am 42 years old and I will be 43 in about 1 month and it has taken me almost 2 years to find that correct balance of fitness and nutrition for me personally. I feel better than I have ever been. Better than when I was in my 20's. The best thing about finding this balance, is that I also found a spirtual and life balance along with it. Balance in my life has prevented me from falling down. I used to fall, all the time. No more :0)
Now that I have found my Fitness and Nutritional balance in my life, it has given me a new outlook and has made me a better MAN! I love the way I feel now because of BALANCE in my life. So, if you are still looking for yours,I promise, it is out there! Keep your eyes open and keep your head up. It is definitely in sight and closer than you think. Many Blessings to you, Rich Sanchez
