The Healthy Choice

I still ponder over all the great things that have occurred in my life over the past two years. It is with excitement and amazement, I have been fortunate to have many blessings bestowed upon me. It is just short of a miracle that these adventures in my life have happened. The fact that these things are a miracle of sorts, allows me to never take them for granted.
The fitness element in my life is such a valuable part of me. It is as equally important as breathing. Taking a breath to live, and exercising for life. I have had several people refer to my excitement for fitness as an obsession, I like to call it my PASSION! There are some occasions when I have to be politically correct when it comes to fitness issues, while at the same time remaining honest and from the heart. In regards to the content of what I am writing, I am just going to be purely honest.
There are some harsh realities when it comes to a persons health and fitness, and for millions, the lack there of. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada and have been here for over 20 years. Up until about a year ago, I did not realize that our state ranks as one of the lowest in the nation when it comes to health and fitness. I believe it somewhere around 46th in the country. Just the thought of that is disgusting to me not to mention down right frustrating. It even sometimes pisses me off. You may wonder why does this up set me. It is because I care about the health of another human being.
The knowledge, the resources, and even the technology for health and fitness is at your fingertips. In many instances, most of these availabilities are free. The hunger and desire to want to be healthy in the U.S. appears to have diminished over the past several years. The reality of it is, is that most people are just lazy and don’t care. They would rather sit back, eat a bunch of crappy food, and at the same time, clog their arteries, smoke, and drink excessively. All of these combined will ultimately run into several, severe health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and even cancer. If there is some kind of physical impairment that does not allow someone to exercise, or limits their mobility, then the next best thing, I feel, would be to maintain a sensible and healthy nutrition plan. If this does not include you, then you have no excuse. Many of us, and I do mean many, simply take their health for granted. Lets face it, something tragic may have to happen in your life in order for you to open your eyes and make you a little more conscientious of your health. I pray that does not happen to you. We go through our life, day in and day out, not realizing all the foods we are eating are unhealthy and all the lack of exercise is just pushing us closer and faster to our grave. I’m just trying to head in the opposite direction. A wake up call like this could mean the difference between life and death, if we act in time. Sometimes that last minute reaction may be too late. Just remember this, “Fitness is about being proactive, not reactive.”
It is way past the time for Americans to wake up from your fitness coma and to get off ass and go to work! I was definitely on the road to my own demise until I realized I was en route to my own death certificate signing. So you what I did? I opened my eyes and made the simple decision to get healthy. I’m gonna make this real simple for you, so you choose. You are traveling down a path and you come to a split in the road. One way leads to death, the other one leads to life. HMMMM? Decisions, decisions! The choice was easy, now you choose. I simply committed to a lifestyle that is dedicated to health, fitness, exercise, and great nutrition.
I am 43 years old. I know there are people my age that are not gonna live another 10 years simply because of the unhealthy lifestyle they live. That is the truth that cannot be denied. I pray you are not one of them and if you are, the time for action is NOW! You have 1 body, and 1 life! Treat you body as best as you can. I leave you with this........Your relationship between you and Fitness should not be taken for granted! It is work that is done daily, But NOT a chore! It is a great UNION and that whatever you put into it, you will get out of it. Treat it well, and the rewards are endless!
