Midnight Madness/ Working graveyard & Training

Workinggraveyard takes a very special person to be on this type of shift. People choose this shift for various reasons. It could be because of your family, it could be because you have no seniority in your job and that was the only choice, and it can also be just because you wnt to work that shift. However you look at it, there are several demands that are required from your body in order to function during these hours of the late night. Now try adding a regimented exercise schedule in the mix. How tough is that now? Not to mention, you still have to get proper nutrition, and sleep. Without enough sleep, you just becom a fully functioning zombie that barely has enough juice to shower and eat.
Well , I have been working graveyrd shift for a few years now and it has been pretty good. I initially chose the shift to get an idea of how it would be. I thought it was gonna kill me at first, but after a while, I got used to it.
When I decided to go to graveyard and be a part of the midnight madness, that was right around the time I became a Beachbody coach. I knew I had some work ahead of me because there were certain sacrifices that I would have to adhere to. Working these hours is not easy but you can function.
The first thing that I did was write down a schedule and see when I was gonna do my training. I knew I had to to treat this schedule as if I was working a regular day shift. When I wake up at 6p.m., that was morning, when I go to bed at 10 a.m., that was bed time. It takes a mental discipline in order to go to bed at the appropriate time so that you can be awake when a majority of the population is asleep.
I began to to do my training after I woke up. That lasted all of about a week. I didn't feel I was giving 100% in my workouts. The only other choice I had was to train right after I got off of work. This has turned out to be the best time to work out for me. I have seen progress and gains from my workouts. I didn't think it would be possible, but it is. An other major factor is the transition to a regular schedule on your days off and then back to graveyard again. That is where the real dedication comes from a person. If you are not willing to tell yourself to go to bed at a cetain time, and maintain a strict nutritional plan when it comes to your eating, you will definitely feel the effects of this and be that fully functioning zombie.
Just know, life still exists when you are working graveyard. You just have to know how to make it work for you. Discipline, both mentally and physically are the 2 main keys in order to survive the midnight madness. Stick to your plan and follow it.Ihave been very fotunate that I have a very supportive family that understands the importance of proper sleep. There are times when broken sleep becomes a problem. If this happens, do your best to remedy the issue and get right back on track.
I have a goal to be in the best shape possible and continue to train hard even though I am on this turbulent schedule. If I can do it, so can you.
Whatever plan you decide, I know it will work for you. Keep your sights on your goal and don't let the discomfort of a graveyard shift ruin your plans for you to reap the benefits of your physical fitnes. Stay on course and be strong. I am here to help as always.
