Your Badge, Your health by Rich Sanchez

Over the past week, I've had a lot of time to think and concentrate about this upcoming year. So many thoughts and goals I want to accomplish are just floating through my mind. The more I write, I promise to share as many as I can with you.
I'm just coming off a fantastic weekend and was able to workout and talk to the creator of P90X, Mr. Tony Horton. This man very down to earth and such a great motivator. Working out with him and being able to talk to him, one on one, allowed me to think about my career as an officer with the North Las Vegas P.D. Thus far I have had a pretty good career and beginning my 16th year in Law Enforcement this February.
The older I get, I have become more conscientous of my health. Being in the Law Enforcement field has many obstacles and of those is stress. The way I have been able to combat this criminal is through my health and fitness. My passion for fitness has allowed me to be a better representative of my Department and for myself. The main ingredient that I use for fitness recipe has been P90X. Let me tell you, it has been a lifesaver and has given me fantastic results. Over the past months, I have had friends of mine that are fellow officers approach me and inquire about the P90X. I'm happy to say that some of my motivation and dedication to my continued quest for fitness, appears to rubbing off on some. I know I can't change everybody's thought process when it comes to health, but if I can motivate and inspire at least one, than I've done my job.
I will close with this, to all my fellow brothers and sisters in my Deptartment and everyone else who wears a badge, get a head start on your fitness today. Too many of us are getting sick and combating health issues at such an early age. Lets join together and battle this epidemic of unhealthy lifestyles and make a change. So next time somebody offers you a doughnut, don't take it. Grab a healthy snack and start there. It's little changes we make that make a difference. The change does not have to be drastic, but gradual to start. I promise, if you change, it will be noticed. It's contagious. Just remember, it's your badge, your health. Until next week, God Bless, Rich
